AFRICAN AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN OF VISION (AABWV)
PURPOSE STATEMENT

The AABWV's purpose is to develop a viable Christian-based network of African American women entrepreneurs and managers in corporate America and government to (1) Advance professional, personal, educational and spiritual growth; (2) Serve as a business and personal referral service for our members' products and services, (3) Serve as a primary resource for locating professional and personal products and services, (4) Encourage strategic business alliances to strengthen us professionally and help us compete more effectively and successfully (5) Provide business and community event information, and (6) Build supportive business and personal relationships with women and men of shared beliefs and values.

Although our primary focus is on strengthening Christian African American business women, the AABWV has always embraced men and non-African Americans who wish to participate. Everyone is welcome.

AABWV Statistics:

  • Founded August, 1997 by Dee Sanford, President, Dee Sanford International and Cheryl Kyler-Pearson, President of the Kyler Corp.
  • AABWV meets monthly (except January and July)on the 3rd Friday of each month, 7:00 am to 9:30 am, at the Quality Resort, 875 Hotel Circle South, San Diego.
  • Each meeting's agenda begins with prayer, then networking and presentations on personal growth and business education. We inform members of important San Diego business, social and political events via email and in the meeting program.
  • Speakers are usually regular attendees. The speaker is able to demonstrate her/his business experience and expertise, allowing the audience to learn how to best utilize her/his services.
  • Mini-business Expos are held monthly. Vendors display (and sell) business information, books and tapes, retail items (clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc.), gift and craft items. Some non-profits also display. We believe in recycling African American dollars!
  • The privately held email and "snail" mail list reaches over 800 African Americans and others in San Diego, all over California, other US major cities, and in Germany.
